Beloved G train

My dear G train,

As you realized I will have to stop this blog since I am not an everyday G rider anymore.

You can find some more crazy stories here : http://inthemudifoundthee.blogspot.com/

until I come back.

Lots of love.

Your Loyal G Rider.

Thursday 25 March 2010

Happened today.

So I am waiting for the Glorious one. Judging from the faces of the people that were already there, the G for one more time was super late. And then, finally the very known light in the tunnel. Ok, smiley faces etc... And poetically enough, I feel the air ("I can feel it coming in the air tonight"), which blows my hair and then I realize that the car that runs in front of my eyes is a new one (like the L train cars) which automatically buried my hopes to get on the G. True. The train left the platform as fast as it entered it.

Also, the other days I got a picture of the security camera. (with a little help from a friend). I share it with you with a quote that came to mind :

"People, no matter how persistently you are staring at the tunnel, the train will not come faster, believe me."

Rats' entrances were shut down

Dear G Riders,

I am not sure if you have noticed, but they sealed the little holes on the platforms. There was a reference about them in a previous post. I am not sure if I felt sorry about the rats but I am pretty sure I haven't seen a rat since then. I am really surprised by that, and I am wondering, where will all these rats go now? But we need to confess that the amelioration of the G has started. (Any kind of change needs the very first steps) :P

Classon Avenue Got painted.

Yay! For us not to be ungrateful : Among the great things that happen to the G (all these construction works scheduled etc) I want to mention that Classon's Railings got painted. That's it. I think that this is Great News.

"Glorious Drops Dripping over my head"

G,

Your Glory tends to extinct these days.

Cold and Scared I stand on the platform and I really ask myself how I manage -almost every single rainy day- to stand exactly under the spot where the ceiling is dripping. Either the "dripping spots" are too many, either I am damn absent-minded. When it is raining I am thinking of what the problem with the Subway ceilings might be, this is not only about the G. It also feels nice looking up and realizing that these drops are poetically nasty. Super Nasty.

Loyal G Rider.

Was It the Last Weekend? and what was it for?

While waiting for the G, I decided for the first time to read why the service is changed."G will undergo extensive track improvements, which includes removing the old concrete track foundation and replacing it with a new one". Hell yeah. Now I know. :)

and the G Bus.

To be honest, this G shuttle bus combined with the cold it is not working at all. But I still have some positive thoughts to share since we are humans and we need/tend to think positive.
- The G shuttle bus driver yesterday (Saturday) was amazingly polite. He said "hello" and I said "thank you!" at the end of my ride! He was way more than helpful when lost people were asking him where to get the G bus or when they were asking him about where they need to get off and he was also waiting for more people to get on bus. Plain gentleness.
- When I was waiting for the Jay street bus I was smiling on my own with this new setting for G-lorious riders. Instead of being all spread to the platforms where you would rarely see most of the riders, waiting on the street lets you have eye contact with each one of them. And what I sensed from their looks was a great support for each other.
- I never really knew where was which G subway station. Yesterday I discovered that there are some stations probably closer to me or closer to places I want to go sometimes. But this is personal. Most Brooklyn residents know where is Myrtle Willoughbuy etc..

So long..

Updates on G train

Yesterday (Friday) a gentleman walks in and if I am not mistaken he starts complaining about people's manners in the subway and how everybody might be more polite with a lady because she is a lady. He keeps yelling and he has a conversation with him self and I hardly understand what he says and THEN a younger gentleman goes like : "I agree with you!" really serious and then another one : "ME too!" and then the first and oldest gentleman makes a nod and stops talking for the rest of my ride. No comments about the importance of showing to people that you pay attention to them.
